![]() Sorry for that brief answer, only had a short moment. If this org also has PCs, look into Workspace One or FileWave or Addigy. Look into SimpleMDM and possibly even Jamf Now (which is a scaled down, more cost-friendly version of Jamf Pro). There are some low-cost MDMs out there, including a free one (MicroMDM). The benefit is that it's the Apple-recommended way for managing iPads (and likely, soon also all Macs). The answer here, and you probably won't like it, is that you're going to want to set up DEP (and ASM/ABM) and an MDM for this organization. I seem to remember a fair number of years ago using the original Apple Configurator to build a blueprint and install Apps on the iPads, but that was in the early early days of managing iPads. Using the same Apple ID for every iPad is not a recommended way of distributing Apps. Then, you'd be able to connect ASM/ABM to your MDM solution and use it to push these Apps. I'd get this org signed up with ASM or ABM and then use the "Apps & Books" section to "purchase" these free Apps. The best way for deploying apps that's not individually via the App Store is via Apple School Manager or Apple Business Manager. Is there no way to push free apps through Configurator? Since I've disabled the AppStore there's no other clear way to get them over I sign into the same account in the App Store on my Mac and this is echoed there - the purchase history is totally blank. When I am in Configurator and I click the " + " to then Add Apps, the list is totally blank. I should note that these are all free apps that require paid account sign ins. I've logged into a special AppleID I set up for the devices (along with a CC), and also logged into that same account on a new iPad so I could "purchase" the various apps they require added to the devices. I've set up the devices as managed, and disabled the App Store as per the client's request, however I don't seem to be able to sideload the apps through Configurator. I elected to go with the iOS Configurator 2 (which also gave me an excuse to replace my outdated Mac Mini with a newer MBP!), and I'm running into some issues. ![]() With that preamble out of the way, I'm setting up some work iPads for a client of mine. Hey everyone! Before I get started I should mention that I'm more of a PC guy - I'm a Google Workspace reseller, and while I'm pretty comfortable in the world of MDM, it's more on the Android side.
